Price transparency
Fees & Charges Notice
This notice explains how Keshopay prices are presented, which charges may apply, and how customers can confirm the complete amount before authorising a transaction.
Review draft: complete the BRELA registration number, TIN, business licence number, address, email, and toll-free contact fields before publishing this document as an approved customer notice.
Our pricing principles
- Fees must be fair, approved through the applicable governance process, and connected to the service provided.
- The transaction amount, customer-paid fee, configured tax, and total must be shown before customer confirmation.
- Keshopay does not charge an undisclosed customer fee or add a fee after confirmation.
- Complaint submission, handling, and resolution are free.
- Merchant pricing does not retrospectively change a completed transaction's immutable pricing record.
Current public fee schedule
| Service | Customer charge | How it is disclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted payment, invoice, or mandate collection | Transaction-specific; may be TZS 0.00 | Exact fee, tax label, and total shown before confirmation |
| Refund request or processing | No separate Keshopay customer handling fee | Refund amount and status shown in the transaction record |
| Complaint handling | Free | No cost, fee, or penalty for lodging or resolving a complaint |
| Merchant platform, payout, provider, and settlement services | Not a consumer charge unless displayed before confirmation | Merchant order form, approved pricing plan, dashboard, and transaction quote |
Publication review: legal and finance reviewers must attach or insert the entity's Bank-approved standard/max fee schedule if its licence classification requires fixed public amounts beyond transaction-specific disclosure.
What appears before payment
Before a customer confirms a charge, Keshopay presents the merchant, principal amount, any customer-paid fee, any configured tax label and amount, currency, and customer total. Customer-entered payment links show a fresh quote after the amount is entered. A quote normally expires after 15 minutes and can be accepted only for its intended project, amount, and transaction.
The mobile operator or bank prompt should match the disclosed total. If it does not, the customer should not approve and should report the discrepancy.
Merchant fees and settlement deductions
Merchant charges may include provider cost, Keshopay platform fee, applicable tax, payout fees, or another approved service charge. The signed merchant agreement and versioned pricing plan identify who bears each component. Settlement and reports preserve the original fee breakdown so a later price change cannot alter historical records.
Refund fee treatment
For a refund, the customer receives the approved refund amount. The merchant's provider-cost, platform-fee, tax, and net components are allocated from the original immutable pricing record using the approved refund methodology. Whether an original transaction fee is refundable depends on the governing law, approved pricing schedule, provider outcome, merchant policy, and the specific transaction disclosure.
Changes and fee disputes
New or increased regulated fees require the applicable internal and Bank of Tanzania approval before use. Material changes are published and communicated as required and never apply retrospectively to a confirmed transaction.
If a customer believes a fee was not disclosed, was charged twice, or exceeded the approved amount, the customer should retain the payment reference and use the Complaints & Redress Procedure. Excess charges will be corrected or refunded where the investigation confirms an error.
